SP-Indonesia.com, Malaysia – An Indonesian woman working as a domestic worker was assaulted by four Malaysian foreigners. The Johor Bahru Police, Malaysia, announced the arrest of four Malaysian citizens suspected of assaulting an Indonesian domestic worker.
The arrest followed a viral video on social media showing four men interrogating and beating an Indonesian woman working as a domestic worker.
In a narrative circulating on social media platforms like Threads and Facebook, the four perpetrators, suspected to be employers, assaulted a domestic worker in the state of Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
The four employers, two women and two men, interrogated the domestic worker and repeatedly beat her, taking turns. The Johor Police, in a press conference in Malaysia on Sunday (June 16, 2026), stated that they were investigating the four perpetrators, a married couple.
According to the Johor Police, the incident occurred in July 2025, but the video only recently went viral. Police stated that they are still investigating the motive for the beating and have raised suspicions that similar violence may have been experienced by two other domestic workers, also from Indonesia. The Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Johor Bahru, the victim of the beating in the viral video, is currently at a colleague’s residence. The KJRI in Johor also stated that it has reported the incident to the police.
