SP- Indonesia.com, Indonesia- A stealthy operation resulted in a decisive outcome. Dozens of foreign nationals from China were caught under intensive immigration surveillance. Without compromise, 24 were immediately deported via Hang Nadim International Airport and barred from re-entry!
The Batam Class I Special Immigration Office (TPI) once again demonstrated its decisiveness. In a continuation of Operation Wira Waspada, which was held throughout April 2026, officers apprehended several foreign nationals suspected of violating immigration regulations.
A total of 24 Chinese nationals were finally deported via Hang Nadim International Airport on May 1–2, 2026.
The Head of the Batam Immigration Office, Wahyu Eka Putra, emphasized that this action was the result of intensive surveillance at several strategic locations, including elite residential areas such as the Opus Bay apartments in Marina City.
“Officers discovered alleged violations during the operation. We immediately took action in accordance with applicable regulations,” he said on Monday (May 5, 2026).
In addition to being deported, all foreign nationals were also subject to deterrence sanctions. They are prohibited from re-entering Indonesia for a certain period.
This measure is considered a stern warning that Batam is not free from legal violations, particularly regarding the presence of foreigners and illegal workers.
“We will take firm action against every violation. There will be no compromise,” Wahyu emphasized.
Batam Immigration ensures that supervision will continue to be tightened, especially in industrial and residential areas deemed vulnerable to becoming bases for illegal activity.
Furthermore, the community and area managers are also asked to play an active role in supervision.
“Synergy between all parties is key to ensuring optimal supervision,” he added.
This action aligns with the Directorate General of Immigration’s instructions to strengthen supervision and enforcement of immigration laws throughout Indonesia.
Batam Immigration ensures that similar operations will continue to be conducted to increase compliance by foreign nationals and maintain the rule of law in Batam.
